What is transport damage?

Transport damage is damage that clearly and demonstrably occurred during transport. For instance large, deep scratches in a table, broken chair legs, a broken cabinet door etc.

It does not include minor damage such as small scratches on the item, a missing closet shelf or a smudge on the upholstery etc. Each vintage piece of furniture has such user wear. We try to mention this type of damage as clearly as possible in the product descriptions.

Consumers may return products based on this type of damage according to the “14 days cooling off period” regulation. Please refer to our Terms of Sale.

What to do if you notice transport damage:

If damage has occurred during transport the assurance company will demand a clear description in all cases on the consignment note / delivery note AND documentation through photographs.
If damage has occurred during transportation you have the following two options:

Option 1: Accept the goods and note the damage on the consignment note / delivery note AND document with photographs.

Make a note with a clear description of the damage on the consignment note. Examples:

“Door cabinet scratched through packaging. Photos taken of packing and damage”

“Broken chair leg, chair fell off automobile. Photos made of packaging and damage ”

Note: An ambiguous note like “adopted tbc damage or defects” is not a valid record of damage.

Take multiple photographs of the packaging and damage to the furniture. Send these photographs within 3 days to Vintage Vibes at info@vintagevibes.nl. The insurance company will assess the damage based on your description and photos, and thereby determine the amount to be paid out.

If you choose to accept the goods, you automatically agree with the amount to pay that the insurance company decides. This process usually takes a few weeks. It is not possible to return the goods anymore. Unless you are a consumer and still make use within 14 days of delivery of the legal provision “14 days cooling off period” regulation. Please refer to our Terms of Sale.

Option 2: Refuse the shipment based on transport damage.

Make a note on the consignment note / delivery note “Goods declined due to transport damage. Photos are made of packaging and damage”.
Take multiple photographs of the packaging and the damage to the furniture. Send these photographs within 3 days to Vintage Vibes at info@vintagevibes.nl.

The furniture will be returned by the carrier to Vintage Vibes. After receiving the photographs of the damage to the packaging and the furniture we will return your full purchase amount including shipping costs within 14 days.
