Vintage Teak Kai Kristiansen Dressing Table No. 40

Rare Mid-century Danish dressing table designed by Kai Kristiansen for Aksel Kjersgaard. This model No. 40 vanity table features a clean, symmetrical mid-century modern design in beautiful teak wood, rectangular mirrors, and three drawers. On the left side you’ll find two drawers, the handles flow into each other making a perfect circle. On the right you’ll find a bigger drawer. The three sectioned mirror is mounted on top and can be folded closed and the angle can be adjusted.

Aksel Kjersgaard established his own furniture company in 1952 after having worked for famous designers Kai Kristiansen and Ebbe Gehl & Søren Nisse. Kjersgaard designed and manufactured dressers, consoles, and sideboards. All perfect examples of Danish Modernism. He used woods with stunning grains and designed furniture with clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic.

Kjersgaard’s contribution to the Danish design movement is recognized as important and his designs continue to be highly valued pieces amongst collectors and furniture enthousiasts.
